Page 3209, column 1, lines 11 to 14: Although the study we cited (M. J. Wawer et al., Lancet 345:131-132, 1995) found the rate of
diagnosis of Trichomonas vaginalis infection obtained with
self-collected vaginal samples to be comparable to the rate obtained
with vaginal samples collected by health workers from prenatal clinics
in African settings, we acknowledge that Schwebke et al. were the first
to report comparability between the two techniques in a controlled
study (J. R. Schwebke, S. C. Morgan, and G. B. Pinson, J. Clin.
Microbiol. 35:1618-1619, 1997).
