Four isolates of Candida albicans recovered from the blood and cerebral
spinal fluid of a 66-year-old man during episodes of systemic infection
separated by 3 months and antifungal therapy were analyzed by a variety of
molecular typing methods. All four isolates were shown to represent the
same strain, indicating a relapse of infection rather than reinfection.
