Detection of respiratory viruses and atypical bacteria in children's tonsils and adenoids

   Abstract

Tonsils and adenoids of 44 children were analyzed for detection of respiratory syncytial virus, influenzavirus, parainfluenzavirus, adenovirus, Chlamydophila pneumoniae and Mycoplasma pneumoniae.

Viruses were detected in 47.7% of children and in 37.3 % of specimens, being adenovirus and parainfluenza viruses the most frequently detected microorganisms.
