    An inability to standardize the bioinformatic data produced by whole-genome sequencing (WGS) has been a barrier to its widespread use in tuberculosis phylogenetics. The aim of this study was to carry out a phylogenetic analysis of tuberculosis in Wales, United Kingdom, using Ridom SeqSphere software for core genome multilocus sequence typing (cgMLST) analysis of whole-genome sequencing data.

    Xpert MTB/RIF (Xpert) for direct molecular detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and rifampin resistance from clinical specimens has dramatically improved the diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB). Xpert MTB/RIF Ultra (Ultra) is proposed as a substitute of Xpert with increased sensitivity and improved rifampin resistance detection.

    The emergence and spread of multidrug resistant (MDR) Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC) strains is a critical global health problem. Between 2014 and 2018, 606 MTBC strains were isolated from 13,892 suspected pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) patients in Tehran, Iran, including 16 (2.6%) MDR-TB cases.
